In 2010, the TV series "The Walking Dead" was introduced in the media, suddenly learning to be a cult and gathering a big audience of fans. The first season of The Walkers was directed by Frank Darabont, who had already got his face to face horror movies, recognized for his highly successful screen adaptations of Stephen King's novels. Even though Darabont subsequently left the project, "The Walking Dead" always stayed afloat, changing showrunners, but without losing the business atmosphere, even though each season was distinguished by its own special style, or, more correctly, individuality. The pilot episode of the earliest season attracted greater than 5 million viewers on the screens, along with the season itself received quite a warm welcome and ideal reviews, including from professional critics. The plot of the series involves situation of former police officer Rick Grimes, who awakens in a hospital among a zombie apocalypse and attempts to find his family and survive in the field of the revived dead. As time passes, Rick makes new friends and enemies, moving along side east coast on the United States and shooting crowds of hungry walking dead.

At the earliest viewing, the series leaves the impression of a task that sets a fresh bar for creating zombie slashers, partially bypassing even the most popular film franchise in their genre "Resident Evil", of course, not in the grade of camera work, but also in the quality of elaboration from the universe. "The Walking Dead" bribes already because they are certainly not the next shooter, that has a ridiculous script and characters written "with their knees." Thus, the "Walking Dead" managed, as they say, "shoot" for similar reason because "Game of Thrones" released 1 year later. During the time of the discharge on the last bright fantasy of how much "The Lord with the Rings" there were practically no, plus the series, conveniently occupying a clear niche, became a cult. So might be zombie horror - yes, they shine in quantity, yet not in quality; few films of your genre will be able to pleasantly surprise, for a lot of them stereotyped and mediocrity are really characteristic, while "Walking" is done modestly, although with taste. The project does not involve the stars of the 1st magnitude, many actors, quite the opposite, became popular because of their roles in The Walking Dead. The cost, apparently, isn't going to allow resorting to expensive effects, plot moves are uncomplicated, and morality is frequently completely banal - value your family members and don't substitute. It seems apparant that nothing is special to hook the viewer with, but all this is certainly forgiven and pays off with interest, with thanks to the mesmerizing atmosphere in the post-apocalypse, captivating from the initial minutes of viewing.

The age rating of your project "18+" speaks for itself - blood, meat, the appearance of dismembered bodies and broken skulls are abundant here; little episode is done without murders by survivors or walkers, but it's not why the fans love the series. Although when you're getting started, The Walking Dead is only a crimson jackpot, but in case you dig deeper, evidently the ominous zombie apocalypse is the scenery against which the main story develops. The story of survivors fighting to preserve a vey important human values, for instance love, friendship, family. The tale of how difficult it is always to remain humane and human in inhuman conditions. And, apparently, it was these ideas that inspired last year's South Korean thriller Train to Busan, which managed to check out a hackneyed topic from some other angle and tell a touching story on the zombie horror, adding a bit of soulfulness. And so the series itself, together with the bloodshed abundance, is not an adaptation of "Left 4 Dead", built on the key of "run and shoot", where such a thought will interest only young people and, first of all, adolescents. Here, a fantastic part of the screen time is committed to the disclosure of characters as well as their reincarnations, the connection totally and conflicts; the dramatic content of "The Walking Dead" occupies one of the main places in the script, at the same time it will make it clear to us that there's little romance in survival in post-apocalypse conditions, that is a severe test of strength, where there isn't any place for your weak, where even one of several living - just as if among wolves.

However, there exists a second side to that medal, behind which, obviously, lies one of the biggest weaknesses of the series. Sometimes the bias towards drama towards detriment with the drive and tense atmosphere is the series look bland, dragging on only every so often, helping to make the plot progress seem indecently slow. Another specific feature of "Walkers" is, not immediately apparent, deficiency of freshness of the planet, from the monotony in the setting plus the monotony in the scenery. As well as the unhurried progression of events, this causes some disappointment, since series, flashing brightly at the beginning and setting an effective pace, ceases to make it, rarely returning to really stormy action and vigorous narration. But what definitely is not going to let you have bored could be the many colorful and deep characters.
